The violets are beautiful. Since any live plants I have in my house usually die, these would suit me just fine! I can't wait for registration to open!

I just thought I'd mention that, in addition to the week-by-week parts of the pattern, I'll also give you the full PDF pattern file at the end of this class, so you'll have the complete pattern in an easy printable format for reference if you'd like to make more African Violets in future :)

Please let me know if you have any questions about the class. I'm really looking forward to teaching it - it's going to be fun!

I just registered. I have signed up for 2 classes at the same time, but I am on vacation, so it shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for providing the pattern as a PDF so that I can still finish the project if I get behind. :clap

Hi, June... I have your amigurumi pattern for acorn from the 2009 crochet a day calendar. I made an attempt at the acorn, but the decreasing single crochet did not look like your acorn. Basically, I have holes in the acorn towards the end of the acorn. :think A question - if I take your class, would it help my decreasing single crochet technique?

Hi Mimi,

Actually, the African Violets class doesn't have any decreasing in it (although I'd be very happy if you took the class anyway - there are lots of other techniques and tips I'll be sharing!)

I can give you some help with your decreasing problem right now, though, with some of my online tutorials. A standard sc2tog (that I used for the acorn) is worked like this: right-handed instructions (http://www.planetjune.com/blog/amigurumi-help/crochet-basics-right-handed/#sc2tog) or left-handed instructions (http://www.planetjune.com/blog/amigurumi-help/crochet-basics-left-handed/#sc2tog) . Check it out for future reference, to make sure you've been doing it properly...

But if you'd like a really nice way to decrease without those holes, you need to see my Invisible Decrease tutorial (http://www.planetjune.com/blog/tutorials/invisible-decrease/) - it's like magic, I promise!

Hope that helps :)
