Handles for Bags

Ok I want to make a handle for the drum case that I made but I don't know how does anybody know where I can find a pattern to make a handle for bags,totes, or purses

Crochet tends to stretch so I am not a big fan of crocheted handles although others love them. What I would do is look at some free patterns for purses and bags and find a strap you like and use it. There are a lot of sites that list free patterns by category like these...

I'm not exactly sure what a drum case looks like or what you want your handle to look like but there are lots of possibilities. My all time favorite has been clear plastic tubing with a fun novelty yarn pulled through it. I don't know why I love that one so much but it just makes me smile.

Rope or Braided handles are pretty sturdy & very easy to make. The way I do them is make several lengths of chains, turn & slip stitch back up the chain & finish off. That's what I call a skinny rope.

If I want it thicker/stronger, I braid 3 ropes together & tie them off at each end.

*You'll need chains & ropes to be a bit longer than you want the handle to be because it will lose some length when you braid them (the handle will come out shorter than you'd like it to be unless you add more length than you need).

4 ply cotton is a great yarn for ropes & braids. It doesn't have as much stretch as acrylic so it won't stretch too much after using the bag for a long time.

If I use crochet for handles I felt it so it does not stretch out.

The braided handle in this bag pattern below works great. I made a set for a large granny drawstring bag and supports the weight very well when filled. It is easy to make too. :D
