I have been obsessing about making this gorgeous shawl for weeks now but I don't know how to make a similar lacy pattern like this... any ideas? :hook i'd be very grateful!

There are a lot of pretty shawls here: http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com/directory/shawls_etc.php

This one is especially pretty, although it isn't as big as the one you reference: http://milobo.files.wordpress.com/2008/04/carmens-shawl.pdf

Good luck!

the information says

Balcony & Bed hand crochet merino wool gauze knit shawl in black gray

I believe that shawl is actually knitted but it is hard to tell from the description and the pics.

If you want a filmy, drapey shawl, you would have to use a very fine wool with a very large (for scale) crochet hook. If you used the fine yarn/lg hook you could make that effect with a Seraphina shawl.

with a fine yarn it would take a while to get it done but it might work for you.

found this at the very bottom of the page:

"Balcony & Bed hand crochet merino wool gauze knit shawl in black gray ($365); Galatea shadow border babydoll dress in black"

The pics are a little dark, but I think it looks like crochet. It's a circular design, so maybe you could look through doily and table-topper patterns, and find something you like. The weight of yarn, and hook size will determine your finished size, but I don't see why you couldn't use fingering or laceweight, and maybe and E hook? Just throwing out a few ideas.......Good luck
