here's a top i improvised using the delta stitch and a simple shell stitch for the edges. the yarn is LionBrand microspun (turq. and white). i'm really happy with it, even tho you probably can't tell from the expression on my face :P

thank you everyone!!! :clap
there's really no pattern, i just kind of improvised in the following way:
using the delta stitch (http://www.planetshoup.com/easy/crochet/flower_st.shtml)
make a tube top that's slightly loose. just use your bust measurement. make a rectangle, and then sew the ends together to create a tube top.
the next step is to do a shell edging on the top and bottom. i used this one http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Woods/9835/shelledge.html.
i did a row of sc, and then the shell edging on both the top and bottom. on the bottom i did two rows of the shell edging and on top i did one. it's up to you.
next create the straps using the same shell edging. measure carefully to get the length you need. make a foundation chain, then do a row of sc, then do the shell edging, then do the shell edging on the other side of the chain as well to create shells on both sides.
i didn't line it, but it's certainly possible to do that if you want.
if this isn't clear, i'd be happy to answer questions :hook

I've lived in Manhattan forever. But I'm moving in about a week to Riverdale. I'm freaking out. I haven't moved in 14 years. I grew in Brooklyn. Sheepshead Bay. Where in Brooklyn are you?

i'm really happy with it, even tho you probably can't tell from the expression on my face :P LOL. I'm the same way when my picture is taken. I think I'm smiling, but when I see the photo I look too serious. Great job on the top. I really like the stitch design and colors that you used. It look very nice on you, even without the smile.:D

Riverdale is actually in the Bronx, right on the River. It's like the country. Wow, Michigan. Ann Arbor? Nice town. Yeah, you better get crackin' on those sweaters.
