guage help??

i am wanting to make something that the pattern calls for homespun yarn with a g or h hook
i want to use a mohair (probably baby weight-maybe slightly finer)
what size hook should i use?:shrug
oh, and there is no guage given in the pattern.
it is a bucket hat to match a scarf. the scarf is out of the same mohair, done with a Q hook really lacy and open, done in sc front loop only. i'll see if i can't figure out how to post a picture.....

Do you have any scraps of homespun around? You could crochet a swatch with homespun and some swatches using different size hooks with mohair and compare them. :thinking2
