I had my first Spouses meeting today and I wanted something "special" to wear..I was so nervous! Anyway...I made this in two nights. It's a shrug using the "Paris" stitch and I'm calling it "Le Sondra". It is made from Caron Simply Soft that Sondra sent me in my yarn swap box :)

The Paris stitch is from the Crochet Stitch Bible. I had this lovely yarn and wanted to make something special with it...so I picked a stitch and "hooked" up a shrug! I haven't been crocheting much lately, things have been hectic...but it worked up quick and only took 7 oz of yarn!!!

Gorgeous!! I would love to try a shrug but I'm not sure of the schematics. I hate math!! Can you explain how you worked it up?? I really want one that covers my arms and will help keep me warmer in the fall but let me get more wear in my favorite t-shirts.
Thanks!!

How I did it minus the math? lol Let's see..I just found a stitch I liked, the paris stitch is what I chose. It said something like multiples of 3, plus one for the foundation. So I chained the amount needed to go around my arm (in multiples of three of course)..then contiuned with the stitch. It looked like a long shawl when I finished. I just kept going until it was the length from one arm to the other (you can use a tape measurer to see how long you want)...I just kept holding it up until it was the right length. Then...stitched up the sleeves! I didn't think it was going to work, but it did :) It was SO simple and quick!
Hope this helps. I rarely write down anything, just go with the flow :)

Thank you, that does help! I thought about doing it this way but wasn't sure that it would look like more than a shawl/wrap. Yours has me convinced. I need to try this. thanks!!

Hello Ivanna! I am sure 7 kids keep you busy..I'm one of 8 :) I did not have a pattern to follow..I simply found a stitch that I liked and made a rectangle long enough to go from one arm, around my back and to the other (I made it to fit from one elbow to the other). Then I stitched up the ends to make the sleeves. It's nothing fancy, but I love it!

What a lovely stitch and colour! :D ...what's a spouses meeting?
Someone else emailed me awhile ago to ask what a spouses meeting was..I know I explained it somewhere before :lol But, I'm a military wife. And at different bases they are spouses groups..some are groups of enlisted wives, some officer wives, some wives from different commands, etc. Well, since my husband works in the Medical Field...I'm the Vice President of the Medical Spouses Group. We are a group of wives of hospital servicemembers that support the mission of the Medical Group. We have fundraisers, different service projects to help the hospital (for example, a child care area was just built for parents who have appointments but can't take their children..with highly trained volunteers). We have social events and do what we can to better the Medical Group for it's families. We also support and aid in incoming personnel and the needs of their families. Basically, we are the "spice" in the Medical Group :manyheart
