I've been buying yarn at Joann.com and I'm looking to branch out. Where do you all shop for yarn online?

I love elann.com too. Placed another order today. Also, they probably have the most reasonable shipping prices online. I also like smileysyarns.com. Oh, heck, I like 'em all. Sucker!

I've been very happy with Crafts Etc., which is Hobby Lobby's online partner (www.craftsetc.com (http://www.craftsetc.com)), for "everyday" yarns and threads that I use for afghans and such. Their shipping prices are very reasonable and I've gotten every order very quickly, which makes me a happy hooker! Now, if you want the yummy stuff ... elann.com hands down.

For Red Heart, Bernat, Caron, & Lion Brand:

Good prices, quick delivery, & they have the DMC Senseo #3 thread I like.

Another fan of www.knitting-warehouse.com here. Their prices are fantastic, and even the $5.99 shipping rate is very fast. My orders generally arrive within 4 days. The only thing I don't like is their site layout--they don't tell you yarn gauge, and it can get frustrating.

I've also ordered from yarnforward.com. Very nice, but the shipping from Canada can be a hassle. Hope that helps.

I usually order from KnitPicks.com (http://www.knitpicks.com), but I've also been looking at Elann.com and thinking about ordering from them.

I've order at several places online and done well. Here are the :Yey's":

http://knit2purl2.com/index.html
http://www.northeastfiberarts.com/index.htm
http://www.kaleidoscopeyarns.com/index.html
http://mysticalley.com/berwick_ribbon_wraphia.html

And a lone "Nay":
http://store.nobleknits.com/index.html

I say nay there because the woman who runs that shop really didn't understand customer service in all areas. I'd email, and get no response. I'd call and she was kind of difficult (snippy).

The second time I bought there, I was ordering the yarn for my sweet pea shawl. She had sent me the rest of my order without that yarn. So I called to ask why I was being billed for it, but not getting the goods. She said the yarn was on back order and would be another month. I suggested maybe she just contact me via email and quickly mention this so that I could make a decision as to what I wanted to do. It didn't cross her mind apparently. LOL. And then she was going to send me that batch of yarn and charge me a separate shipping fee on top of the fee I already paid! She was long distance, so I emailed her back the next day telling her to cancel that part of my order. She never emailed me back and I never got the yarn, nor was I charged. But still, at least contact the customer!

P.S. I've heard good things about Elann, just haven't ordered there yet. Also check out:

www.knitpixie.com

She's got a nice selection of the hard to find yarns.

I've had great service from KnitPixie and amazing fast shipping from Yarnia (http://www.yarnia.com/index.html)

I've gotten good yarn, but a little slower shipping from

http://www.onefineyarn.com/Merchant2/

And a good price, but no indication that my product was back ordered until I submitted a request (three weeks after ordering) at http://www.bopeepswoolshop.com/ I would order again, if I was planning far ahead.

Webs (www.yarn.com) is also good, although the website itself isn't stellar
