I need to start with a little background. My daughter was in the Azalea Trail for 3 years. (For those of you who don't know what this is. It is a southern tradition where one Sunday every spring, we take our teenage daughters, dress them up in big dresses and hats, introduce them to society, then make them stand in a strangers yard waving at traffic for a couple of hours.) Two of those years she wore a dress that I had made using the pattern for the green b-b-que dress from Gone with the Wind. We did it in purple since she looks so good in purple. Here is a picture of her in the dress:

I was looking recently at a crochet magazine and noticed a barbie dress that looked kind of like her dress. I got some purple (Yes that's purple, it just didn't photograph well) thread, altered the pattern a little and found a barbie that looked something like my daughter.

That's beautiful, and what a great way to memorialize those days in your daughter's life. Your description of the Azalea Trail event had me laughing. Ya gotta love tradition. :D

My daughter hasn't seen the barbie yet. I'm mailing it to her for her birthday next week.
She is actually now a Marine!!! Can you believe it?
