after several years of dyeing my hair with punky (http://www.punky.com/punkycream.html) hair dye and ruing a few old gym shirts with the stuff, i thought it'd make a nice yarn dye. you can get it at longs. it doesn't have harsh chemicals, it claims to be semipermanent but the shirt i have ruined with it and kept for pjs and washed repeatedly has kept the color. i suppose that doesn't matter too much if you use wool. esentially wool is just hair. it seems like a good idea, and i saw a DIY tshirt that used the same sort of dye. am i on to something?

Has anyone tryed this? did it turn out vibrant yarn like i'm thinking? any problems or perhaps pics?

thanks:)

I've noticed a similar effect with Manic Panic - in my hair it's definitely semi-permanent, but on... hrm... everything it's stained has been cotton... clothes/(old ratty) towels, the color has stayed. It might wash out of wool (not that you'd necessarily wash the wool, but anyway) maybe this could be a great way to dye cotton.

I may just have to try this! :hook
