this is a blanket i am working on for my husband. it is a 'scrap ghan' of sorts. i have too much chenille and am using it up making this for him. no pattern, just sc, hdc and dc depending on how thick i want the row to be... it's only about 5inches wide so far... i can only work on it during the day because i don't want him to see 8o
what do you think? masculine enough? the picture is fairly accurate on color. the wide stip of the tobacco color will be the edging and main color of the blanket... i have 2- 4lb cones of it

Too Much Chenille???

That's a tough problem to have :)

I think it's awesome! He'll love it and yes, it's very masculine!!!

It is gorgeous! I am sure he will love it! He better anyway, right?!! I agree, I would love your problem. I don't know where you all get the worsted weight chenille. All we have in town is the heavy stuff. How well does the chenille hold up? Does it wash well, because my store bought sweaters often don't wash well. They end up all loopy....a little like me.:bounce

Colors are gread, and the pattern is nice and simple. I'm sure he'll love it! And good idea about hiding it until it's done - my hubby would snag the afghan I made for myself and gripe that he didn't have his own, even though he didn't like the ruffly trim I put on mine!

Yes, it's masculine enough, unless you've got a guy that only wears black and brown and is too "conservative" for green. :)) I, personally, think it's great looking for a guy.

(And do the kids know it's a secret? I find if I don't tell kids and make sure they know not to tell, they spill the beans in no time flat!)

I love :) chenille. I did a blanket for my sister in all chenille - it was the lions brand worsted weight stuff. It was my second project, so it was all done in dc. But it looks so luxurious and wonderful.
Fit for a princess ;)

I think that with the colors you did it in, it's fit for a king!:thumbsup

I can't wait to see it!

thanks ladies! i do worry about how it will hold up... i've been leaving extra long tails for the weave in because i've heard chenille works itself loose. i'm hoping that bacause it is for hubby, it won't have to be washed all too often.
my oldest 2 have not seen it yet and my youngest 2 couldn't care less with what i'm working on..... just that i don't normally crochet during the day (that's their time) and i've suddenly started trying to fit in 30 minutes during the 'independant play' time and they watch curiously - they don't normally see me crochet (only on weekends) because i only do it when they are napping or in bed for the night.
i have just told them it's "a project" and they are happy with that and ask no more questions. so the secret is still safe for now8)
