Here is actually my very first attempt at making my own pattern design. Its called a floor doily and I think it turned out very nice...except it slips around on me....what do you all think?

I think it's a great idea! You could put some puffy fabric paint on the backside of it to keep it from slipping so much.

Thank you for that suggestion! I once heard that you could use the glue from a glue gun too...I did that once on a pair of slippers I made a long time ago but the glue came off too easy....good suggestion, thanks!:hug

You can buy rug backing that you could paint on the underside. It is a rubberized compound that is made to prevent skidding/sliding. I think you could probably find it at a craft store or online.

Its very pretty!!! If I had made such a nice and big doily, I'd put it up to decorate a wall!:hook

That's so pretty! I agree, I think it would be great on a wall too. Those rug thingamajigs work great, we have them under all our rugs here. Puf paints would also work great, and not be visible like the rug thingy would. Just depends on what kind of look you want =)

It's great Melanie, and all from a q hook. I'd wondered if you could create a doily from yarn instead of just thread. You did a wonderful work.

It looks GREAT Melannie. I agree, it would be look nice as a wall hanging also, but the floor mat is a clever idea.

That is very cool. In order to stop slipping here are a few ideas:
Use the shelf lining material (it is a plaztic/rubbery mesh - made by rubbermade) in a matching color and glue or sew to edges.

My favorite thing for non slip stuff (I use this on slippers) is the puffy fabric paint. You can purchase this at your local craft store. Just be careful when putting it on lacy things.

A rug, how cleaver. I'm thinking that if it was attached to a backing, you could use rug strips to keep it from sliding around. Otherwise, put up a CAUTION - SLIDING RUG sign. Just kidding. It's lovely.:clap

LOL My cats love laying on it....and one of my cats, Kaleigh, she likes to sing at night and in the mornings, right beside my bed, there is my floor doily..she brings it to me..its such the cutest sight to see her drag this thing from the kitchen to my bedroom....I will post a picture of Kaleigh on my blog today
