This is actually my favorite dishcloth pattern. Its #53 in Leisure Arts, "The Big Book of Dishcloths." I made a couple in size 10 thread that turned out really sweet, so I decided to go even smaller. I used tatting thread and a size 13 hook. The quarter is there for reference. I'm hoping to make a pair out of sewing thread, for earrings, but can't find a hook small enough. I've tried to make my own out of a needle, but the points don't bend, they break. If anyone has any suggestions, or sources of superfine hooks, please let me know.

How exquisite! I think the smallest hooks I have are the 0.7 mm ones by Tulip of Japan. How small do you think you might need?

That is a lovely doily!! have you tried heating the needle before bending it?? of course heating it would probally make it hard to hold :lol

Joel - That is incredible. I know I would go blind attempting something that tiny. However - this would be great to use in a doll house, if you know of anyone who has one.

just a thought. . . what if you made those for dollhouses, and sold them at craft fairs? Regular sized doilies are often used for doll "rugs", so why not have real doilies for them too? Great job!

So pretty. I have not worked up the courage to use such small needles and thread yet, but your tiny doily makes me want to give it a try. :)
