EDITED to add:
Actually I should say, this is the first time I've ever seen cotton yarn, let alone used it for anything, so making a dishcloth out of it seems a little mundane (sorry to any dishcloth lovers out there....) The ombre one especially is amazing, and I'm loving the way it is striping.

I recently got a 2.5 oz skein of Sugar 'n cream "Ivory" (it looks like cream to me!) from a friend in the US and was wondering what (apart from dishcloths and potholders ) can be made from it....Ideas please!

Thanks!

Try the Sugar N Cream website.

I just noticed a cute cap made with 2oz of SnC.

Thanks for those suggestions! I've looked at the sugarncream website, nothing actually "spoke" to me, maybe I'll end up making a potholder anyway....There was a ombre (or is it variegated) skein as well, which is well on its way to becoming a placemat.

I have a headband in my hair right now that I made with Sugar N Cream. I freehanded it. I'll post a pic and a pattern if you'd like.

That would be nice if it isn't too much trouble! Maybe I could adapt it for my niece...:clap

I'm at work now, but as soon as I get home, I'll have my dd take a pic of it and I'll write up the pattern. :)

I think you could probably make a hat. A child size one at least. I love that yarn. It is so cheap and goes further than you would think for such a tiny ball.
I made a toddler sweater with less than three balls, and a poncho for myself with less than 4 balls.
When it is on sale for $.99 I go crazy.

I love kitchen cotton. It's so cheap here. Here are a few things I didn't see mentioned to make with a ball of it.

Napkin Rings
Coasters
A "personals" pouch for inside your purse (aka tampons lol)
tennis shoe laces * I haven't bought shoelaces in a long time! Color combos galore! Change the style of your shoes anytime you want for pennies!

kazily, do you just use the yarn or do you make a chain, for your shoelaces? Also, how do you make the hard bit at the end so it goes through the holes?
This sounds so cute!

I have made many bags/totes/purses with cotton 4 ply. I especially like that I can wash the bags, cause I tend to not watch what I'm doing and sit them down in places that aren't so clean.

I also have made two beautfiul afghans from Sugar and Creme. They weight a ton when they are wet!! HA HA

Depending on the size of the skein of Sugar and Cream, it's possible to crochet an entire small tote. If it is one of the smaller skeins, you'll need 2 but if it is one of the larger skeins, you can do a nice mini tote bag.

Dish clothes are nice to make with the Sugar and Cream yarn too. You can pretty much do them in any stitch pattern. It's a great way to practice your stitch patterns. But I agree, it's fun to make stuff other than square dishcloths.

You could make a triangle head scarf out of one skein or make flowers to accent pillows, purses, etc. Or my Sunglass/Eyeglass visor would be great out of cotton! See Original Patterns.

Swapna, I love making coasters with sugar'n cream yarn!! In fact I am making one as I type..I make these coasters for the pooja shelf and its easy to clean them too. I too got mine from an RAOK and I am using a ball of desert ombre . Coin purses are also very nice in cotton.

This sounds so cute!

I make chains. You can also use two colors for extra colorful shoelaces! For the ends I just twist a little & use a drop or two of glue--let dry & they slide through the holes in tennis shoes.

Another thing I just thought of to use P&C cotton for is the willy warmer someone posted recently lol!
