hi guys,
I know I should just google but I thought I will ask here first before I get trapped sitting at the computer for hours together:)(which I do anyway lol) .. I saw some lovely beadwork done by one of our members and I am now bitten by the bead bug:) So how and where do I start? Any beginner sites (I mean absolute beginner sites) that you can point me to? It doesn't have to be provided immediately to me, take your time and let me know:)

thanks for the ton of info I gleam off here everyday!!!

hugs and cheers to all

Everyone laughs when they ask something and I automatically say about.com but they really are a great place to learn new things (or new things about old things), and they have great resource links.

I agree with Kari.....I learned most of my beadworking knowledge from the site. Beadworking is still my first love.......:D

Rather than a general beading site I would suggest you plunge into making something right away. My suggested pattern is Dawn's Beaded Purse on theCrochet Partner's site. This is ideal for a beginner because 1) The instructions are clear and foolproof, and, 2) instead of a useless practice piece, you end up with something extremely pretty and usable (or giftable).

I am so sorry to have recommended a pattern without checking if it was still available on the net. I wonder what the copyright situation is with regard to such patterns. Apologies again.

Looking for the following pattern. I saw this bracelet at the Farmer's Market and the lady said she has it in a magazine but woulddn't give me anymore information. Wondering if someone might have a pattern for it.

There are about 10 strings of seed beads from left to right and at the end of the seed beads they are attached by thread, but each row is a decrease until you get to the last few stitches (looks like a pyramid)....then you put your clasps on each end or you can make make a loop and add a button at the other end to use as a clasp. I really want to make this bracelet and I can't find the pattern anywhere. Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

I have a couple of free beaded patterns on http://www.oldpursepatterns.com and there is http://www.medidit.com/free/bclet.html that I wrote as a beginner pattern for bead crochet. I figured it is an easy way to get you started and of course if you have any questions, please ask I might be able to help :)

Good links from everyone.
I've been looking all over for crocheted bead patterns, and I only find wire crochet, does anyone know how to make the crocheted rope??

Try this tutorial and it will show you how to "crochet" a beaded bracelet. It takes time, but you will get the hang of it. If you practice by using the larger beads, you can gradually go down to the small beads. Good Luck and I hope this helps you out.
