I'm also waiting to try felting...I have several balls of wool from knitpicks (wool of the andes) but I just can't decide what I want to make :P I'm thinking of making myself a purse with it, felting it, and then lining it with something to match....hubby just rolls his eyes and says "whatever" LOL

Hey, I decided today I want to try this too; would you happen to have any good tutorial links for me to look at?

Here is a good one to start with - just pretend they are talking about crochet not knitting ;)

Hello,

In the new recently released "Family Circle Easy Crochet," there are several beautiful patterns for felting. One, in particular, is a cell phone cozy that super cute. Marlo, at www.marloscrochetcorner.com (http://www.marloscrochetcorner.com) sells some really easy and cute tote bag patterns that I've tried and had good results. Both of these sources come with good instructions albeit different.

Here's a freebie:

I hope this helps.

Just one warning: I know other people have had no problem with Marlo but I ordered a pattern from her back on 8/5, paid via PayPal, got payment confirmation from both PayPal and her site, and never received the pattern. Not only that, I haven't gotten an answer to my emails about it. It's a shame since her patterns do look pretty, but I wouldn't recommend buying from her at this point.

Yes, you always work the pattern bigger, unless you want a miniature sized object.

You want big, open stitches, done with a couple hook sizes up, because the goal is to get lots of agaitation in the fibers the get them to all mesh up. If your work is already tight, the fibers won't be able to move as freely and get fulled together.

Another resource that I didn't see suggested is the one by Paton's.. Knit & Crochet Felting (http://www.maggiescrochet.com/pages/Leaflets/SpinRite/NM_279220_knit_crochet_felting_main.htm)... with 5 or 6 cute, easy projects.
