I haven't managed to finish a crochet project in ages, so I'm very happy with this :c9
I've come up dry when trying to find a shrug pattern for ample women, so I made my own! I used Caron simply soft in Blue Mint.

Basically you could size this to any person. Measure the circumference of the largest part of your arm, and measure the width you want it to be, from say, elbow to elbow, wrist to wrist, or mid upper arm to mid upper arm. You could use any size yarn or thread and hook, and any crochet stitch, just make the rectangle the width of your measurement by the circumference of your arm. Mine for this was 18 inches (circumference of arm) by 30 inch width (I chose to do a 3/4 length).
Once your rectangle is finished, fold it in half and sew the seam for your arm closed. This part will vary depending on how long you chose to make the sleeve. Just sew it until it looks right. You may have to try it on to get an idea of where to stop. (I just folded my rectangle in half and measured the length from the center of my chest to my armpit. Whatever was left over was what I sewed. It helps if you put stitch markers on it to keep it even.)
I'm lousy with instructions, but it really is the easiest thing ever.
Oh, almost forgot to add, I named it the Peacock shrug because of the color and I used the arch stitch and so it wound up looking like the end of a peacock's tail :D
