This is my first bit of clothing for myself. It's from 24-Hour Crochet Projects (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1402713770/qid=1125639533/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/103-2155238-2007051?v=glance&s=books). Instead of the Lion Brand Glitterspun I used Caron Simply Soft in Raspberry.

One tip: DO NOT wash with husband's cigarettes and box of matches! :eek It really comes out much softer without the matchsticks poking through! :embar At least I got it clean again. AND I got the timer on the camera to work so I could post tonight. :P:lol

Ha Ha, Deneen -

My thoughts exactly!

What a great job you did. I love Raspberry, but I've only seen it in 3oz skeins.
DId you have to change hook size, too?
I love the shawl that goes w/ that top, too.

I love Raspberry, but I've only seen it in 3oz skeins.I was able to pick up the Raspberry SS in 7 oz. skeins at Michael's. They have such a limited selection of yarn and I'd never used Simply Soft before. I took a gamble and I love it! My daughter picked the color for me.
DId you have to change hook size, too?I think I used a G/4.5mm hook. I borrowed the book on an inter-library loan, so I can't remember what the pattern stated.

I did find the the top is a bit loose on me, but (despite what the lousy pic shows) I'm a skinny gal, so I figure it's my shape that's wrong. I actually ended up frogging about 7 rows off of each shoulder strap to correct their length, sewed the "V" in the neckline up about 1 inch and added some diagonal straps on the back that run from halfway up the back straps to meet in the center of the back. Hard to describe. I'll try to get someone else to take a better picture for me.

If I were to make another, I'd decrease the width as the whole problem was a roominess that was much too revealing. Side note: Hubby insisted I wear it as soon as it was done and took me out to a late breakfast. Simply turning in the booth to look at him was enough to cause a view of "nipplage" :embar, so I immediately went home and improvised the changes I listed above!
I love the shawl that goes w/ that top, too.
I'm not much of a shawl person, so I didn't make it. It looks cute in the picture, but just not for me.

That is great. I have this book and love the projects in it. I'm adding this to my list - PLUS I have SS yarn. I'm glad someone took the plunge and substituted an easy to find yarn. :)

Great Job!!
