I want to keep! LOL! I made my mil's blanket over the last few days and I LOVE it! I was going to try and match her jungle themed room but it ended up being close to impossible, so I went with her favorite colors and used a combination of Homespun Delft and Caron Simply Soft soft blue. The pattern is Rich Heather (p. 128 ) from the LA Afghans for All Seasons book.

I'm in love with Q hooks now, too. I cannot get over how quickly it worked up!

And here's a close up of the fringe - I still need to trim it - I love the contrast of the fringe and the blanket itself.

Sorry if I seem overly excited, lol, it's just that no one else understands A) how proud I am of myself and B) ACK I want to keep a gift for someone else! :bad

That is so beautiful. I love it so much. I know what you mean about not wanting to give it away. You just have to make you something and it will be easier...well that is what I try to do! My husband is really bad, he loves what I make and is always saying, "You know you are keeping that right?" It is so nice that he shows interest. I know your MIL will love it. I made my MIL a blanket this year and at the same time made one for me. So I suppose it was easy to give to her, plus her reaction when she got it was soo worth it!

the afghan is luscious!:*cgift
Heather you are so lucky that your hubby: appreciates your handiwork. Mine kind of grunts an acknowledgement. If I want any kind of praise I know not to go there. My kids and parents are the place to go. They appreciate my work.

Crochetdiva - I just got lucky with crochet. He never was interested in my cross stitch projects and would "grunt" too! Then I started plastic canvas and a little more interest, but not really. The crochet is his favorite. Strange huh, fine with me though, my favorite too! I asked if he wanted to learn this weekend and he said nah. hehehe <img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/bounce012.gif" />

Thanks Heather,
at least I know I'm not alone. He likes my paintings, anything else gets a grunt. It's just a good thing he doesn't know how much this hobby costs me or he might do more than just grunt. lol:*csheep

Wow! :woohoo That is beautiful. I love :cloud9 the colors and the use of Homespun and Caron Simply Soft (my favorite yarn) together.
The fringe is a great contrast in texture.
I think I would have a hard time parting with it too.
You know you are giving a great gift when it is something you would want too.
