YAY! It came out right this time! The stitches are a little loose there, a little tighter there, but it resembles a piece of clothing!
This is my own free form crochet because none of the patterns i could find were simple and quick for a tank top. All i did was SC vertically (vertical in ref. to wearing it) so i could quickly add straps. i tried to make something similar before, but the straps were too long and the whole thing was too big.
Yarn:Reynold's Utopia
Material: 100% Courtelle Acrylic
Pattern: my own http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/crochet.gif
Color: 10 - it's a dark blue with white specs in it.
And now for the photos!

Now... all i have left to do is tidy up the yarn ends and then block it, to see the true shape. I'm glad i didn't give up. I was ready to frog the whole thing :(

Fantastic job, Marj, your tank really looks great! Congratulations on the finish, and for just off and doing something without a pattern!!

Quite impressive I must say. We wear tanks all year in Florida, so I have a question, does this yarn have any stretch to it, or is it sort like normal yarn with no stretch. Sure love all your work and would love to have some of the tank patterns. :ducky

Thank you everyone! ^_^. :day
This yarn will stretch once it's blocked in the washing machine. It's also very soft :cloud9
To do this yourself, just take a tank top that fits you nicely, crochet columns to match the tank (mine is a little on the square side) and then crochet the side and straps together.
I'm looking forward to using this as a base for all my other tops for an easy beginning. It doesn't take too much time.
I also have to work on getting my stitches even! :loco

Awesome!:yay - It fits you great!!! You mentioned you used Reynolds yarn - i've heard several other people talking about that yarn....where do you find it, specialty stores? I've looked at Joanns and HL - but nada. Anyway - love the tank - great job - aren't you glad you stuck with it???:clap

yeah, it's Reynold's Utopia and i just happened to pick it up. The first tank i used a light cream color.
(friendly pokes bagpipes for :camera )
I loved the softness of the yarn, so i went back to The Yarn Connection (small store on Madison Ave and 36th St) and picked up the same thing in blue.
If it wasn't so expensive ($4.50/skein) i'd have picked up more... but i could only afford two.
The store no longer has the blue color, and i'm not sure if it carries Reynold's at all anymore. Just a yarn in passing, i suppose.
Thank you, all, again for your warm cheers! :grouphug
