Whew! My friend has been after me to finish her afghan for her. I started the afghan around the beginning of March for her birthday in the middle of march. I didnt finish it in time for her birthday, so she asked me if I could finish it in time when her in-laws came to visit. She has a room that she's decorated in patriotic theme, which will also be the guest room. Well she emailed me this morning and said her dad had called and said they were flying out to visit tonight or in the morning, so she asked if I could give her priority today and finish her afghan - I only had 18 rows left to do on it, but for this kind of blanket (sc! and 200 something of them!) it takes a while! So I finished it early this evening, tied the fringe into sections, then washed it. Whew! So finally, here it is:

It was meant to be used as a couch throw ~ to throw over their legs while sitting back and watching tv. But her idea was she was going to use it as the blanket in the guest room since they dont have an extra blanket. I dont know how well this will work as a main blanket though. Im so glad this project is finally finished and off my list!!

Thank you everyone :hug I really am glad to have it finished and off to its owner, but now I feel like something is missing lol.

The pattern is the apache tears, you can do a search on it and come up with a few patterns. All it is is you single crochet in the back loops only across - you always work on one side of the afghan, cutting off your fringe at the end then starting again at the beginning so you never turn your work. Then around the 6th row you do treble crochets in the 3rd row down into the front loop left from your single crochets, you would do this every 6 to 10 spaces. Then you would move over one stitch on the next row to make your treble crochet. That's how you get the raised pattern. It's a nice and heavy afghan, and after washing it became very soft.
