Hat with embedded pattern

Looks like you will have to try some tapestry crochet. :hook There's a purse pattern in the latest Crochet Me (http://www.crochetme.com/2005_Oct_Nov/pattern_tapestry_crochet_purse.htm), you could apply the technique to hats.

You could *try* graphing a design, but I've a strong hunch working in the round would screw that all up.

Well I have a pattern, but it is in a book. However, I found the book at the library and I think you could too. Anyways it is called Star Hat.... and has a star on the crown of the hat which is a beanie type hat. I got the pattern out of Family Circle Easy Crochet: 50 Fashion and Home Projects and it was published in 2003.
