I just finished off a doily that I made from the yarn and pattern that my awesome secret pal sent me!

http://www.unc.edu/~shrieves/images/doily.jpg
It turned out absolutely enormous, since I crochet big and the yarn was a little larger than doily thread - the pattern size was 11'' and it's actually 21''

Anyway, I'm not sure what to do with it now. I don't have a place for it in my apartment, and my friends and family think doilies are superfluous

If any of you guys want a mega-doily, send me your address and I'll mail it to you.

that is fabulous!!!!!! i love how bright it is ---- now, only if it were purple i'd chime up right away (i'm needing/wanting a large purple one for my dtr's dresser)
every room in my house is earthtones except my den which is decorated comic book style and i don't think the decors would mesh well :lol
it is absolutely beautiful - so great of you to gift it!

You know, you could just keep it and use it for something other than a doily. At 21 inches, you could put a rubber backing to it and use it for a nice accent rug like in a bathroom or entrance way to the front door. It is really pretty and the blue is great (especially if it matches your decor)--something to think about :coffee

This is very pretty. It would make a great table centerpiece.

And just a note... you better tell your friends that doilies most certainly NOT superfluous, especially if they (friends and family) have a crocheter in their life.. they are a necessity *grin*

I don't understand all the secret stuff behind this but that is a beautiful doily!! It is, isn't it? :)) No secret stuff, really, kimcbirney just made a doily and didn't want to keep it, so she sent it to 4PJ who wanted it. :)h Oh, and kimcbirney made it from yarn she received from her Crochetville Secret Pal--you can read about the Secret Pal exchange here (http://p084.ezboard.com/fcrochetvillefrm48.showMessage?topicID=1.topic).
