My mother commissioned an openwork style sweater vest, preferably short sleeved...the sort that you can wear over a dress. But I haven't found any patterns at all for that kind of thing yet. I can use the one she has already for a guide/inspiration...but I'd rather not re-invent the wheel if there's some out there already. Anyone seen one around?

omg I can't even imagine how long that would take to do! I was thinking something more along the lines of worsted weight cotton :)

Well you weren't specific and I thought that one was a pretty one. ;)

its freeform again but fairly easy measure your subjects shoulders, bust, waist, wait to pit depth, and hip (unless they will be readily availiable while you work on this.
start from the center of the back to a point 1 inch from the centert of the waist using basic chain stitch, on row 2 and up just dc, ch 2, dc to the end. Continue working back and forth increasing as needed until 2 inches under the arm pit, then divide work into thirds , at the top of the shoulder decrease by 1 for the next 2 rows (neck side) work until colarbone then increase for the next 3 rows continue working until you are able to join teh pieces. loosely fasten off.
start in either top center or bottomcenter of the arm hole and continue pattern joining as you go until the sleaves are the desired length, fasten off loosely
do the same for the other half, join together
trim as you see fit working in ends as you go
Yeah! Did you use a pattern for that?

Here are a few patterns that would need adjustment but might provide some ideas.

Thank you! That second one is exactly what I'm looking for. I'm sure it'll work just as well with cotton. I just sent her the link so she can consider it, but I'm sure that'll be the one :)
