Here is the one I did, it is a baby sized one but you could just keep going and make it bigger, the website was taken down but I had saved the text to notepad and here it is with a pic of the one I did.photo courtesy of Deb Sullivan

I have made several ripple afghans. The first row is the hardest but it is the foundation of the whole afghan. It helps to crochet your foundation chain kind of loosely so you can count your chains easier. It will usually say something like sc in first 2 chains then you begin your pattern. Pattern usually something like sc 3 in next chain, sc in next 7 chains, skip next 3 ch, sc in next 7 chains, 3 sc in next ch. The 3 sc in one chain forms your peaks and the 3 you skip forms your valleys. The key is to pay very close attention to your first row and count every stitch. The next rows you will find easier as you begin to see the pattern of peaks and valleys.

Hope this helps some. I know how frustrating it can be!

You'll be fine with it Tina - just count - count - count for that first row

:cheer How many stitches did you do for the chain stitch in order for suggestions to meet up.

The suggestion of 3's and 7's was just off the top of my head. Below is the beginning a a real pattern that you can follow.

With H hook chain 251 (kind of loose so you can see where to go in each chain).
ROW 1 - (wrong side) Sc in second ch from hook, sk next ch, sc in next 10 chs, 3sc in next ch, *sc in next 11 chs, sk next 2 chs, sc in next 11 chs, 3 sc in next ch; repeat from star across to last 12 chs, sc in next 10 chs, sk next ch sc in last ch. 250 sc

Place marker on back of any stitch on Row 1 as right side and bottom edge

Row 2 - Ch1 turn; sc in both loops of first sc, sk next sc, working in back loops only sc in next 10sc, 3 sc in next sc, * sc in next 11 sc, skip next 2 sc, sc in next 11 sc, 3 sc in next sc; repeat from star across to last 12 sc, sc in next 10sc, skip next sc, sc in both loops of last sc.

Repeat Row 2 for pattern changing colors if you wish at end of row.

The pattern given by Lynn is the same pattern I use for ripple (rectangle that is). :lol Only one pattern difference. I do 2 sc skip 1 stitch and then start my peak where Lynn does 1. I did like where she told to go through both stitches at the edges of afghan. I was told doing this keeps the edges from curling. Don't know if it is so or not...I have just always done it:hook

Yes it does and by going through BOTh stitches at the edges it makes a more substantial edge too

That is beautiful....I love the colors. I have always wanted to try a round ripple so I think this is the chance to try it.
