Hi :) I mistakenly bought some Caron yarn at JoAnn's on sale, so I can't take it back. I was intending to do something like the Lion Brand "Pound of Love" blanket, but it definitely will not work with this yarn-I think it's the Simply Soft baby yarn, in a nice dark blue. I checked the Caron site, but I just can't find anything that looks right-I just want something simple to go with a baby shower gift I'm working on. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! :manyheart

You could do pretty much anything! My fave thing to do is to take a pattern and tweak it just for me! I hardly ever use the yarn called for in a pattern!!! You could make booties, a baby sweater, even a poncho... I got some Caron's Baby yarn from a garage sale and used it to make the "Coming Home" poncho for a friend of mine. Find a pattern you like and use this yarn to make it. (Just make sure you have enough!)

I am with Donna on this one. Head over to www.CrochetPatternCentral.com (http://www.CrochetPatternCentral.com) and take a look at the Baby Blankets if that is what you want to do. As long as you have enough according to the pattern then you should be okay.

I like to use Caron Simply Soft for afghans. If you want something quick, use double strands (same or 2 different colors) a large hook (I use a P) and just single or double crochet until you get the size you want. Otherwise you can do almost anything with it.

Thanks! I'm just no good with playing with patterns unless I've done them once or twice, and even then it's iffy-anything mroe complicated freehand than a scarf usually gives me seven fits :)
I love that ripple afghan though, I think that I might give that a shot. Thanks everyone!

Assuming you want something simple and fast. Corner to corner stitch is fast and nice, also the diagional stitch is fast, sorta look like each other, but corner to corner is much faster. Easy to do, check for directions, would help right now, but I am leaving for appt.

I have the Leisure Arts "Our Best Baby Afghans" book, which I think is really good.

I've used a few of their patterns and changed the colors to bright ones instead of pastels. I made the "Easter Mile A Minute" on page 48 with Simply Soft Brites, and it turned out great. The stiches are not difficult at all, and there's enough of a variety of them that I never got bored making it. Hmmm, too bad you can't attach pictures, or I would! Anyway, I love the feel of Caron's Simply Soft, my only minor complaint is that it tends to split easily.

I agree with that. I am finishing a baby blanket done with simply soft in blue and rh soft in white and both split really easily.
