sort of....
I finished this last week but just got around to taking a picture
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v201/ilexmi/capelet.jpg
I treated myself to a manquin body from ebay and wanted to try her out (I think I'm going to call her Sibyl <g>)
Anyway, I started with the Round The Capelet Pattern:
http://www.interweave.com/knit/interweave_knits/pdf_files/RoundtheCapelet.pdf
but changed things around some. I actually wrote down what I did but now I can't find the piece of paper.
Basicly the first 5 rounds are the same except I had to do many more chains because I was using a lighter yarn (Plymouth Sunsette) I think I chained 66??
Row 6 I did as written except I used TTC instead of Tr.
Row 7 I did HDC ch2 HDC around
Row 8 was 3 Trc in each ch2 space around
and so on...
I'm debating putting a few extra rows on the front & back (not the sides) so it dips down. It's for a friend so I want her to see it & let me know what she would like.

Beautiful, Holly! :)h I love the look of the yarn. I've never used it before. Is it cotton? wool? blend? It looks great!

Thanks everyone!!!

The yarn is 60% Rayon 40% acrylic. It's very light & silky but has a matte finish at the same time. I thought it was a cotton blend until I read the lable. I used 3 skeins for that poncho, will have to dive into a 4th if she wants it fringed or the extra panels.

She's a good friend, and she's very petite lol! She was my assistant at my old job and we've stayed friends ever since. She house/pet sits for me and last time she did, our Golden got sidk on the rug...twice <img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/frown.gif" />
So I told her I'd make her something to make up with it. I had been doing the Stitch Diva floral poncho with this yarn but it wasn't working out for me. I finally frogged it & did this instead.

Stunning! I actually printed out that pattern a week or so ago because it really caught my eye. I just have to figure out what type of yarn I can use.
Thanks for the inspiration......your friend is lucky to be receiving such a beautiful gift.

I've actually been thinking about making this capelet, and seeing yours makes me realize I absolutely must! Sorry to ask another question about the yarn, but is the yarn you used worsted weight? The yarn in the actual pattern is chunky but it makes it look very thick and heavy, but yours looks beautiful.

Thanks,
Maribel

The Sunsette is a smidge thinner than worsted, the gauge is 4.5 stitches per inch.

You really could use any type of yarn you wanted, just adjust the number of chains you start out with. The pattern calls for the starting chain to be 21" long. I used an N hook and I am pretty sure I ended up with 66 chains (where is that darn paper!!!!!) Do multiples of 3 to make sure the first row will work out correctly.

I sent her a picture, she's going to stop by to try it on and then we will decide if we want the extra panels. She does want fringe, yayyy!! I think it needs fringe.

I really like your version.

I'd also would like to get a mannequin form like yours....from Ebay?

Thanks Ken!
Yes, I got her on Ebay. This is a solid one, it took a while to get one that wasn't too expensive. I was really wanting an adjustable dress form, they were too rich for my budget though, lol!

Watch out for the shipping charges. Some people were charging $40 & up just for shipping!!! Mine doesn't have a stand which helped keep the cost down.

Well I thought I posted about this yesterday but I don't see it today...guess it got lost in space.

That capelet is absolutely gorgeous! I downloaded that pattern just a couple days ago and now that I see how awesome it looks I will definitely be doing this one.

Thanks for sharing!

Its just beautiful!

I made 6 caplets very similar to this pattern and sold them to a botique in the Los Angeles/90210 area on consignment, for $80 each. They all sold in a weekend! They ARE the fashion do of the season.

Yours is adorable! Your friend will wear it proudly and in style!

After finally getting together with my friend, we agreed on a few finishing touches. I added 4 more rows just to the front & back (not all the way around) and some fringe.
Here's the finished product!!
