View Full Version : Seeking Lacy Shawl

I'm looking for a pattern for a lacy shawl. I want something fairly intricate (like a pineapple), but I'm not sure if I wanted to do the pineapple shawl that people have done. It would be for a gift to my MIL who is VERY into fashion, so it would have to look very expensive. Anyone know of a shawl with a pineapple, strawberry, or floral pattern I could do?
Also, would I be absolutely nuts to attempt my first filet crochet pattern on a Christmas gift? Because, I might design something if I don't find what I want.
UPDATE: Wanted to clarify that the pattern doesn't need to be free. If you have a link or name of a publication that might have what I'm looking for, please tell me and I'll look for it in the store or online!

That is very much like what I had in mind! Filet doesn't seem all that hard, so I may attempt this one.

My first thought was the rose one, too. :)
You can look through all of these and see if there's anything else you might like:

Thanks everyone! I'm really leaning toward the filet crochet one. Even better would be if I could make my own design and use the pattern to incorporate it. I knew you would come through!

I made the shawl from Woman's Day for my daughter who works in the fashion industry in New York. She loved it and so did many of her co-workers. It's not hard to make even with the filet chart. I used a silk thread.

I don't know if you found anything. One thing I have done is, I found a lacy tablecloth pattern I liked. I used a daisy pattern. I just put the blocks together in a square shape with 4 bolcks missing in the center (for the head). Instead if crochet cotton I used sock yarn. I turned out really nice. It looked like a poncho I saw in a botique.
Good luck!

I should just contact you first! LOL!
I am doing a certain filet crochet one for my MIL (not the rose one), and I'm thinking one of those that you suggested would be great for her sister.
Thanks so much!
