I need your help fellow crocheters-- and rather quickly too. I am making a clown costume for my one year old son for Halloween. I have the jumper almost finished and the hat done. I was all set to call it an outfit until last night when I was lying in bed, unable to sleep, and thinking that the perfect finishing touch would be one of those big ruffly collar things like most clowns have on their costumes. Despite another hour of sleeplessness trying to figure out how to make this thing, I haven't a clue. If any one has any ideas or has seen a pattern somewhere out there that would be helpful, I would greatly appreciate it. I want something that I can either add to his costume or something that I could easily tie at the back of his neck. Any suggestions guys?

Maybe make a short ruffled scarf in the appropriate color and attach it around the collar?

I'd try a round of sc around the neckline and then do a few rounds of 2dc in each st. Or maybe use 2hdc in each st since it's for a 1yr old.

Thanks for the quick responses! I am going to try out these suggestions and see what I come up with. I'll post pictures when I get it finished!
