changing the color of a granny square afghan

well, i started this granny square blanket, and the colors are orchid and dark plum. well, i want to change the color of orchid, to a darker not too girly kind of color. is there any way i can do this without messing with the dark plum? i figured if i used a color darker than orchid but lighter than the dark plum, i might be able to work it out. any ideas?

Anytime you add color (even a lighter to a darker) you are going to run the risk of changing the color value.

I would try a little bit of the yarn first before plunging in. Be sure to write down time in the dye pot, amounts used ect.
