Well here's my latest crochet pattern.

Me, my husband, and Tucker (our dog) have been doing a lot of geocaching lately (www.geocaching.com (http://www.geocaching.com)/)). Being that's it's Hunting Season, I figured Tucker needed a fluorescent orange sweater so he could be safe in the woods.

Basically this is the pattern.

Using Red Heart yarn and a "J" hook, I crocheted a large granny square until it got to the right size for Tuck.

Then I crocheted a wide band for the front (you can see by the Tuck3 picture how it's laid out), and crocheted a band across his belly. Actually the first band I did across the belly I had to pull out and start all over again because it got in the way of Tuck's wee-wee - - darn male dogs!!!

Then to finish it off I did a row of single crochet all around the edges. Of course to determine the appropriate length for the bands (and for the square) I had to keep on trying it on Tuck..Fortunately, he makes a good model.

Thanks, Tucker is a bit tired in the pic. He's a very cute little guy. We've been told he's likely a cross between a beagle and a terrier. My daughter rescued him from a humane socieety while she was in college at Radford Univ. in Virginia.

Hi PJinNH, Tucker could have a little German Shepard in him. The coloring on the top of his head reminds me of one. I'm so happy the little guy got rescued!

No one will be able to miss him now! Great sweater!

And I know how not thrilled they about trying them on all the time. But they're general, pretty patient about it. :)

Tuck looks pretty content in that sweater! Great work! Good idea about keeping him safe. Now he's not only safe, but he's festive in full fall color! :lol

Tucker Remus (his full name) likely has a lot of other dogs in him. We tell him he's a Tuckerdog and is therefore unique. ;)

You did a great job. It was very creative to use the basic granny square for Tuck's coat. He will be warm and safe now. By the way, he is a real cutie.

Aaawww! Tucker looks so cute. I can just hear him thinking, 'I'm a huntin' dog!' (Fox and the Hound..) I watch too many kids movies. That's what happens when you have little guys... :lol

Anyway very nice job on the sweater! He looks like he'll be nice and warm, and protected from other hunters. I don't think I could get my dog to wear a sweater, she freaks out when I put her diaper on when she's in heat. But she's so cold after coming inside from going to the bathroom out there... :( I might just have to jump on the doggie sweater making bandwagon here soon! :lol
