On occasion we find a post here on the boards that isn't your typical crochet related post. There is usually a link inviting you to purchase a product (shoes, restaurant coupons, razors) at a discounted price or with a rebate. To all appearances these posts have been made by individuals who join Crochetville only to generate sales and/or gather information from members who decide to purchase these items. This is spam, plain and simple. Spam is absolutely not tolerated.
While it is impossible for the administrators and moderators to police each and every post as soon as it is made, we do our best to keep Crochetville a safe, friendly environment to talk about crochet. As soon we find a post or it is brought to our attention, we will remove it from the boards. These offers have been made through websites which may collect your personal information in order to spam you further, possibly by email or who knows, may add spyware to your computer without your knowledge.
Please keep in mind who is posting a link before you click on it, no matter how good a deal it seems to be. It may be a better deal for them than you in the long run. If it is a new 'member' or just a post you have concerns about, please get in touch with one of the admins or moderators and let us investigate before you click on anything. Better to be safe than sorry.
