For my nephew, using local acrylic yarn, and a slightly larger hook (so it isn't as warm as it's supposed to be). I made it a few months ago, but didn't take pictures. I took pictures this time. The pattern is here (http://www.crochetgarden.com/winterhat.pdf) from Etaria's Crochet Garden (http://www.crochetgarden.com/).

Here is a closeup of the pattern:

The pattern is super simple and I love the cabled effect! Thanks, Etaria,:hug I've made this one several times already.:hook

That looks really nice! I think I'm going to have to give it a try. I'm not normally a hat kinda gal, but I do like to be warm, and that hat looks like the ticket. May even make one as a gift!

I love the hat! It looks great on your nephew. If I didn't already have so many other projects I'm working on for Christmas:hook I'd make one for my nephew. Good Job!

That doesn't look simple at all! Wow, that's a absolutely adorable hat! A Friend of mine asked me to crochet a winter hat for her, so perhaps this would be the right pattern. Thank you also for the link! :hug
