:? I have been admiring everyone's beautiful felted bags and I want to give one a try. I went to Michael's and I bought some Wool- ease thick and quick. I hope that it will work.:fc Also, does anyone have a suggestion on a simple purse pattern that I can make with it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.:))

The wool-ease t&q has too much acrylic in it to full.

You can see what happens to it by crocheting a swatch and trying to full it to see what happens. Yarns with ~80% animal fiber are better candidates, but depending on what the remaining percentage is, it may full strangely (because only 80% of the fiber will full, it's hard to say what the other 20% will do).

smiley's yarns has some Reynolds Lopi that is 100% wool and will full nicely. LB Fisherman's Wool will full nicely (and you can KA dye it!). Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride also fulls nicely.

So sorry to bring you bad news, but I would hate for you to spend all the time on a bag only to have it not full as you planned.

Thank you so much. I'm going to take the thick and quick back. Do you have a suggestion of what brand to buy? I'm going to Michael's.

Sorry about that last post. You did tell me what kind to look for. I think I remember seeing Paton's Merino wool. I think that I'll give that a try. I just have to have a felted bag for myself!! They are just too cool!!!:loco

:sun I'm back from Michael's and I bought Paton's Classic Merino Wool. Now I'm going to start making the recangle felted bag by Marlo Cairns. I chose new denim for the color because I am a little leery of attempting to dye my own yarn yet (but I think that one dyed in blue kool aid would be so very pretty) I sure am glad I found this forum. It's nice to get some great new ideas. :cloud9
