Last fall I purchased Marlo's Country Market Bag pattern. I finally got around to doing it last week. I used LB Landscapes in Country Sunset and the handles were done in LB Woolease in Peacock. When I finished it, the bag was really pretty. Although I bought all the yarn from the same dye lot and one skein was way off but I didn't notice it until I was done. So I decided to felt it on Monday night. I put it through two cycles and I could not wait to open the pillowcase. I wish I had never opened it, that bag was the ugliest thing I have ever seen!!!! :thumbsdown I blame the yarn and the way it felted. I will post pictures tonight when I get home. If anybody for some reason is smitten with it, they can have it.
Alright, ladies here is the hideous thing that I made., it makes me want to retch!

I'm sure it looks better to other people..we're always critical of our own work. Besides, LB Landscapes yarn is beautiful - I've only seen pictures of it, haven't seen it anywhere up in Canada yet. :( holding my breath tho
Look forward to seeing your bag!!

Its the after?? You really don't think its bad?? I think I had a vision of what it would be and it didnt meet with my vision. That crappy yarn lot thing aggravated :mad me though.

laura - honestly, i think the slight color change looks great....
also, i wonder about that yarn. i did a felted bag with the landscapes and am disappointed with its turnout as well:blush
truly, imo - it's not 'gasp' worthy :p
looks like it will be a fabulous - project tote :yes

It's not that bad--you probably just envisioned something a little different.
As for the different colors from the dye lot, from reading this board, I am realizing Lion is famous for it, but really it doesn't look bad at all.
Great project tote, sturdy!
I like it:sun

Oh Laura, I think it looks great!! I totally understand about not being pleased with how something turns out, believe me! You did a great job, plus if you really don't like it, you'll know better what to do next time. I think you should keep it and enjoy it, but if not, someone would be thrilled to have such a wonderful gift. <img border=0 src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/toothygrin.gif" />

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v478/SamplerLady/mmouseplus.gifI have a less than appealing fulled bag we hung next to the loom to hold tools. I noticed yesterday that ED had commandeered it to be her new purse. Different tastes for different people. I think it looks great, personally. Use it for awhile and see what others say about it.
Remember, fulling is always an experiement! As is using some kinds of yarns!
Noro never has two skeins that match and the suggested way of using is to do a few rows with one skein and then a few rows with the next, etc., so that they kind of blend together! :D

Thank you for all your kind words. My mother visited my blog this morning and has staked claim on the tote. Just because I don't like it doesn't mean someone else won't. Thanks again. It is so great that I found crochetville otherwise when these little things occur I would have no sanity check. I love my husband but he just doesn't get it.

Thank you for sharing...I just recently made a scarf from the LB Landscapes in Country Sunset. I thought about felting it, but was afraid of how the colors would turn out. You're right however, it is a beautiful yarn when it is not felted. Personally, I don't think the picture of the bag is gasp-worthy....I actually kinda like it!! Again, thanks for sharing!! Hope things go better next time.

I've felted LB Landscapes and was also very unhappy with the way it felts. I tried with two different colors and same yucky results with both. It's a shame because the yarn is so lovely and one expects it to stay lovely but it's disappointing when felted.

I think it looks good. I'm glad you found a loving home for it with your mom. I like the bag. I wouldn't mind one like that, but maybe not in the landscapes from the posts here...

I don't think it looks that bad... but my husband was walking by the computer, and said, "Oh, God, What is THAT?" and my son said, "You're not buying that, are you????" - Ah, some family members can be so cruel! I think the lighter strip looks kinda cool and the craftsmanship is superb! I love the handles... I say any fault lies with the yarn and how wonderful that mom likes it! Good for you. I've never even been brave enough to felt anything, but I was under the impression that you were supposed to use wool or something... I think, all in all, you done a good job!:hug

We all have those "bad" projects...meaning we think they are bad....but other people remind us they aren't that bad.
Hugs:hug for your stress!
Glad your mom likes...mine would never use a bag I made.
The colors aren't your fault...good job at felting and trying something new.

I don't think your purse is ugly at all! It looks like you meant to put that lighter stripe, and it's a great shape! I like it!

I used Landscapes when making a felted bag, but only as an accent couple of rows. It didn't felt a much as the surrounding regular wool yarn rows, and was kind of rippled to boot. It did work well to add a bit of unexpected :wink texture to the bag.....
I've also run into the problem of having two different dye lots. I usually put a 2 or 3 rows of a complimentary row in between them and people don't even see it (or they think I meant to do that!)
