Winter set for Father-in-law

Ok, here is my dilemma. I made a felted bag for MIL, now I want to make a hat and scarf set for my FIL, but everything I've looked out seem really girlie. Any suggestions?

I made this really nice scarf for my nephew and it looks really nice. The hat is a little iffy on masculinity, but its not the same hat from the pattern. Here is the thread with the pattern link and pics of the scarf I made.
