I posted this question on another site and have not yet received an answer. I also went to stitchguide.com and was very confused by the directions. Can anyone give me some tips on how to make this stitch?

I am sorry that you didnt get an answear to your question on the other forum, but you will always get one here, even if its just someone saying "sorry, I dont have a clue but good luck with that, you can do it!:hook " hehe
I had to go and look this up because I didnt know what you were talking about, but I think I can help. (Although I may confuse you more) You just crochet as normal, but you drop down to the row that the pattern tells you to. If youwere makeing the swatch in the video, you would go down 1 row and put your stitch directly below where you would have put your stitch if going strait accross. (that sounds awful, not as easy to explain as I thaught!) How about this, here is a link that shows a pillow useing that stitch. It may be easier to see what is going on if youcan see it in diferent colors. If you want to find more patterns search for spike stitch, it uses the long sc to make that pattern. http://www.crochetme.com/Aug_Sept_2005/patt_spike_pillow.html Pleaase ledt me know if I have helped or confused you. I am sure that some of our crocheters who are more experienced than me will be along soon and they will probably do a better job than I have explaining this to you.

I'm sorry to hear you didnt get a response too. There is usually someone online at all hours and can help with stitch questions. Shelaine added a great page. I hope that helps. if you have anymore questions, or are still not quite sure just post about it. we'll see ya through.;)

Actually, as much as I *love* crochetme.com, theirs was the forum I got no response on...and where I actually first learned of the stitch.
I think I just have to keep on trying with the spike stitch...everything always looks better after you've done them eight million times, right?
