Hi, I was just in my Wal-Mart this morning and the department manager told me most of the fun fur and some of the novelty yarns had been marked down (rolled back is what she actually said). The fun fur was $2.97 I think. She didn't know how long they would stay that price. Just thought I'd pass the info along :)

HI everyone, I was at Walmart this past week. What a zoo! But the fun fur yarn does have a lower price now, of course I can't remember what it is. :think But the interesting thing is that I bought two skeins of the red heart super saver yarn. It was only after I got home that I really looked at my receipt. The super saver yarn is $2.17. Joann's has it for $2.19. Not much of a savings at Walmart. I thought super saver yarn used to be $1.88 at Walmart. I hate when they raise prices. They did it with their bread at Walmart (believe me, you don't want to get me started on that one!):angry

karin I so identify with you on the yarn prices. I went to one WM and the Red Heart Super Saver was $2.04 I needed another skein and the other WM charged me $2.17 the lady working in that dept said the stores are independent of each other and therfore have different prices:thumbdown bottom line its just getting more expensive to buy any yarn . I started to buy a Chenille Yarn HELLO not paying almost $6.00 for it.:ohdear and why or why can't WM ever have my coffee in stock I've only asked them 27 times lol:coffee :coffee :coffee :coffee

I had the same thing happen at a couple of Walmarts, one was charging $2.04 for RedHeart Super Saver, the other $2.17 but now all of them by me are charging $2.17. The $1.88 price was for the Mainstays yarn. So far, they are still 8 oz (last time I looked).

Go to the service desk and ask for a request form,, once you fill that out with your coffee brand and say its never in stock they will get it. If that don't work go ask the manager why they quit carry it.
what are you working on?

Sunny:
I am currently working on a prayer shawl. Completed 2 blankets, one Harry Potter Blanket and pillow, Several throws, prayer shawl, cosmetic bags, and too many scarf/hat sets to even remember lol. I have talked to WM managers several times, I get hurricane aftermath, we switched warehouses, to it'll be in next week. :blink who knows(I think perhaps they don't realize what happens when a coffee dependent person is deprived of their personality in a cup lol). :coffee :coffee Just found out Starbucks is opening in my local mall (can you hear the angels singing? Caffe Verona here I come.}
Happy Crocheting!

I would still make that request form fill out.
I like your smileys with the coffee cups.lol.... I should have mention to you last night but just wasn't thinking. Have you tried to find your coffee online. We love teas all kinds of teas and like to mix our own teas. well... we order from this place we used to go where we used to live. The lady there lets us order by phone she says we are one of her best customers. After the last batch we ordered my husband said this is really good. We had ordered I believe 8 differnt teas. I was telling my husband be nice if she had carmel cherry or was it almond cherry. My husband said why don't you go online and just order it. The best place selection and price wiae,,I found was Stash teas and made a HUGE order. I must have spent 2 hours looking thru that site. Order like 14 or 17 differnt kinds.
So much to see. :drool My favorite?? Creamy Earl Grey,,Chocolate tea,, carmel cherry teas. I like mixing the chocolate and carmel cherry teas together and boil the water then turn it down and simmer it for about 5 more minutes then let it set for 20 minutes. Now thats some good~~~~~~ tea :coffee
Ordered all kinds of flavors that we like in teas. We have them plan flavors. or mix in some flavored teas we love mixing teas....
I am knitting at the moment:knit knittted pot holder my first pot holder knittted. so well see how that comes out. Other potholder are crocheted :hook different styles. They are for my father in law. I'm not sure if everyone knows this or not but Red Heart also changed the oz on the yarn, it is no longer 8 oz it is 7 oz and I think the varigated is now 5 oz instead of 6 oz , so be sure to buy enough to finish a project. And of course it is still 2.17 per skein, which I think is very very sneaky.

I was just in WalMart on Thursday, I noticed the "shortage" in my skeins immediately, and I snagged up some of the furry yarn, as I also noticed the rollback. It made a very pretty scarf also......LOL!!!

One of my walmarts recently have fun fur at $2 a ball. I promptly bought about 20-30 balls of it in various colors. Then went back a few days later to find that the price was the same despite the signs reading 2 or 3 something, so I bought more! Not sure what I will do with it all, but I have a plethera of fun fur.

You've got to be kidding the prices are raising for less product, now I ask you is that fair?. Thanks for posting this I hadn't even noticed, and I would have went on the assumption of figuring out how much yarn I needed based on the old oz. I checked what I bought today and guess what 7oz.:irk I agree with you this is sneaky. I use Red Heart all the time, companies just don't seem to value their customers anymore:grump

calling 1800walmart is WAY more effective than asking management....although threatning them with it works sometimes ;) basically if someone who works for walmart requests an item (by a customer asking them, then they ask their manager ect.)in, well tough, but if a customer asks for it..(by calling 1800walmart), its MUCH more effective. :devil going to walmart.com and emailing from there is also very effective. Lets just say that someone :blush was having a problem getting her childs formula :blush:blush and called :blush and well the next day my boss was like "why didn't you come to me first?" I was :( :blush well I've been waiting for it to come in for almost a week and my baby is almost out (I bought my formula 8 cans at a time through a state program) and asking the department head and grocery manager both about it daily, so I did what they suggested and called... needless to say, the baby formula hasn't been out of stock since then...even if they have to go buy it from the other grocery store in town :lol

Most Red Heart is acrylic, which is made from petroleum. As oil prices increase, so do the costs of items made from petroleum. I really don't like it either, but with a known increase in oil cost, I understand their reason. They only had two choices- raise the price (most noticable) or issue smaller skeins (not as noticable, most people won't check). Ahhh...the joys of living in an industrialized society! LOL!

katie:scrachin I guess I never thought about it that way, but between gas prices, Health insurance , groceries, and heating bills raising it is eating into my creative budget:( although I still think lowering the oz. without telling a consumer is just wrong:huh

Interesting that acrylic is a by product of oil, huh? It's actually quite cool, if you really think about it. How does one spin oil into something to keep warm or to wear?
It is wrong that the prices have come up somewhat, I am sure some here remember when yarn was much cheaper, like 99 cents or something like that, for a good size skein. My mom today asked me to pick her up some Sayelle, lol! They don't make that kind anymore! I picked her up one of those 1lb. Caron skeins. Do you think if oil prices will come back down, the yarn will too? No way!

At my local Rag Shop, they took the letter from Coats & Clark announcing the change in skein size and hung it right in the middle of the yarn display. I guess the management was tired of getting yelled at :lol

Just an FYI, I work for WM Home Office, and I know that they had HUGE trouble with getting things like coffee and sugar due to Hurricane Katrina. Possibly your coffee is subject to that issue? I would go and see customer service though. They can definately make sure and get it for you. They are also coming out with new product in March/April. One of my good friends works in the craft dept at the HO.

Did anyone here see the big ol ball of eyelash yarn that Walmart has? It's like 15 dollars (dont' remember the exact price). It is about the size of a volleyball. Hubby let me get a teal one. Can't wait to use it. And the huge bag of michaels yarn. Now I just need to pick up some non fru fru yarn.

It kind of looks like its mostly made up of a styrofoam ball underneath the yarn...
