I would like to find the perfect pattern for a hooded scarf. I've found a bunch out there, but the hood part is too pointy. I want to make one for my Grandmother for Christmas and I don't think she would like a pointy hooded scarf. Any suggestions for patterns or things I could try to make the hood not so pointy?

The hood schematics at the bottom of this (http://*****************/web/20011108164843/www.cei.net/~vchisam/groovy/11-tunic.html) pattern makes a nice curved hood. This one is done with large grannies, but as long as the depth is 2/3 of the length, it will work out fine. To add it to a scarf, you could either just add the depth part to the center of the scarf and sew the sides of that to the scarf or add the length and depth to the scarf. The second way would cover the neck better.:D

I make hooded scarfs with the softer yarns so that they lay down and I don't get the point. I make a regular scarf only longer, fold it in half and sew up 10 1/2 inches in the middle to make the hood. Then I trim mine with fun fur or put a scallop edging on mine. I make my starting chain the length of the whole scarf and work from that way. Usually for an adult, I start with 180 chains using a K hook, do a row of sc then dc for the next 9 rows, ending with a row of sc. Sew the hood together, either fringe or but contrasting edging on it. I sold out at the craft show and got two more orders.

Thank you so much for the great ideas...I've already started working on the scarf and I'm just winging it...so far, so good. Thanks again!
