Fisher Price Mandy doll patterns

I asked for help last week and did not get much, so I am asking again, I want to make clothes for this doll and can not find any patterns for doll this size. I would make a link if I knew how, she is a little girl, NOT barbie size not bed doll either, I have tried to make it up but I am just no good at it, sure would love some help or suggestions. I HAD a Mandy doll (and remember HOURS of fun playing with her!), unfortunately I don't still have her but I did find this website. I don't design, but maybe someone else can help with suggestions in that department.

Of course crochet patterns, I know it should be simple to do,but my brain, just won't let me come up with anything, I want suggestions or directions or something.

Let's see if I can explain how I made the American Girl (http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=18471) clothes. Maybe it will help.

For the skirt I chained long enough to fit around the waist of the doll plus a couple of stitches (so the skirt would gather). I joined to form a ring (be sure not to twist the chain) then dc around. About every other row I increased by 3-5 dc (so dc 4x, 2dc in next st, around). When the length was right, finish off. Make a chain about double the width around the doll's waist. Weave the chain thru the top (waist area) of the skirt. Skirt done.

For the shrug my niece chained the length of wrist to wrist. Ch 1, sc across, continue in this fashion until the width meets comfortably around the widest part of the dolls upper arm. When done, fold the oblong piece in half lengthwise, stitch up the ends to just under the dolls arms (I think it was 14sts) on both sides. Shrug done.

For the sweater I did the top half as the shrug above. When the shrug was done, I joined the yarn and dc around the body opening of the shrug except for near the top of the shoulders (collar) I hdc then sc around until the other shoulder, hdc, then continued with dc around. I joined after each round instead of crocheting in rounds. Once done with the main body, I put 2dc in ea st around the cuffs to give a fuller/ruffled cuff. Added a chain of 20 to each side of the sweater in front to tie it closed.

I hope this makes some sense. The key is taking the measurements of the doll you are crocheting for or using the measurements another C'villager gave a link to. I was constantly trying on the objects I was making to get perfect fits. None of the items I made were made with a pattern. Just winging it, frogging and constantly trying it on.

You were so kind to post such clear details!!:hug The woman who taught me to crochet had us make dolly clothes to fit the dolly by beginning with a neck-tie and just form-fitting the dress to the dolly. You begin with a chain to fit around the neck, then increase out to the shoulders. On the next row, crochet the back left, skip for the under arm, the do the front, skip for the other under arm, then finish the back right. You then continue (no more skipping stitches) for the skirt portion of the dress. I use crochet ties to make bows on the back, or one could sew on snaps. You can vary the stitches but once you get the idea of doing it in one piece, separating for the underarms, you can really get creative!

I printed the pattern, of course this is not the style of doll I have, but it sure is a start, I have tried and tried, it is the arm hole area, that confuses me, I really am a patttern person, so I need all the help I can get. Thanks, I will play with this today.
