I made another placemat. Here it is with its slightly older brother. :)

I know the patterns are very different, but I like that.

Oh, I love them! I bet those would look great in shades of rose as well. I love the mix and match look, too.

I like both patterns, and I like the colors being the match, not the pattern--eclectic and fun! Patty

I love them! Where did you get the patterns? I would love to do a version in red & black (colors of my DH's favorite college team).

Cuddlefish.

I agree. I like the different patterns with like color schemes. I bet they look wonderful on your table. You did a great job.

Thank you all. :hug

The patterns are from and old book I have. But they were just stitch guides, suggesting how to get these patterns, they weren't placemats. So I guess I can translate them for you...

For the one that has the most dark blue, it's like this:

You need an amount of stitches that is dividable by 4+2. I think I used 82, and a 3 mm hook. The yarn is a cotton blend.

1. row: 1 dc in 4th ch. from hook. *2 ch, skip 2 ch, 1 dc in both of the next two ch*. Repeat from * to * until end of row.

2. row. Add another colour. 2 ch, *1. dc in each of the two ch that were skipped in previous row (below), 2 ch*, repeat from * to * until end of row. End with one ch. instead of 2, crochet 1 slipstitch in 3rd of the three ch that begun row 1.

3. row: Add third colour. 3 ch, 1 dc in the skipped stitch from previous row, *2 ch, 1 dc in the two skipped ch's from previous row*. Repeat from * to * until end of row.

4. row: Add new colour or use one of the previous again. Crochet like row 2.

Let me know if it doesn't make sense. Then I'll try again. :)

They are great. They have nice retro feel which would match my dinning room perfectly.:)

You're right about the retro, the top one kept reminding me of some of my grandmum's old dishes from the 50's. :haha

Nice patterns! And it's wonderful you have the patience to actually work out how to make them into placemats!
