I spent the day in NYC window shopping and looking at holiday decorations.

I also had the opportunity to visit several yarn shops including purl soho-
I enjoy their website but was disappointed with the shop itself not their yarn collection or staff-
it was extremely small-staff was friendly and helpful-

I appreciate now Stix and Stitches in Montclair, New Jersey-
this an ideal yarn shop(imho)-

I have also come to realize that buying online for myself is the best option for purchasing yarns-

There is a yarn shop called The Happy Hooker in Chatsworth, CA, that I like going to, the lady that owns the shop is the best teacher ever and smart, she can help you with anything problem you have. The only problem with the shop its very very dirty, yarn is just thrown everywhere even on the ground. There are big stains on the ceiling and it looks like the its going to cave in. Sometimes when you go in the back it smells like gas. It looks like she has outgrown her shop. I would love to see that shop get cleaned up.

I love going to yarn stores to see and touch the yarn, but unfortunately many are small, so they don't have the yarns I like to use, or if they do have it then not enough of any color for my project. On-line shopping is great because you can get as much as you need of any yarn, but you don't get to see or touch it. Too many times I have ordered yarn on-line only to be disappointed by the color or texture.
