Hey Crochetville! I love this site, I really do. Y'all have been so helpful, I read bits of this site before I go to bed every night, seriously.

So it's christmas time... and my sister, who's 22 and still in college, is pretty hip with fashion trends. She's picky to say the least about what she wears. It makes me feel bad sometimes, because I make her an awesome scarf and she hardly ever wears it because she has 20 of them.

Here's my question... do any of you know of a free, cool, hip, trend-setting winter hat pattern I can make my sister? I have this yarn...

Patons "pooch" in wheat field. She'll love the yarn, now I have to find the right pattern. I can't give her 3 skeins of yarn for christmas! :)

ANY SUGGESTIONS would be great. I've been searching for the right hat pattern, can y'all help me??

Well, I think that with such crazy yarn, you should use something really simiple so that the stitches aren't lost in the pattern.

Check out Dot's blog. She's has some of the best hat patterns around. You have to be able to find something there.

WOW. You're right, Dot's patterns are beautiful! I found one... and a matching scarf! It's the CLUSTER CRAZE hat and scarf. I'm not going to use the yarn I had purchased for my sister... I'm going to make myself a scarf with it!! :) Hey, I've never made anything for myself! So now I'm going to head out to Michaels and get myself some Caron Simply Soft and make my sister this set for christmas! Thanks for the advice... and her ponchos are gorgeous too! Thanks again!

You just GOT TO make yourself something for everything you make for someone else... Or else you end up jealous of those you use your creative talent on.

**** (but maybe it's just me)

This is the BEST pattern and works up quick. I've made two of them so far for my mother in law for chemo caps for her bald little head and she loves them. :) Whoever thought up this cap was an angel. She doesn't wear it under baseball caps, but wears it all the time by itself because it is the most comfortable one she has! I can't say enough good about this pattern.

Ro, the designer, used to post here regularly. She is a wonderful woman who's dedicated alot of her time and talent crocheting for charitable causes.
