Ok...my 23 yo dd wants a black scarf...I've been promising I'll make her one forever...I have Simply Soft yarn....what pattern can I do really quickly?
Last one I made her I worked horizontally, starting with a long chain the length she wanted. I'd prefer to make one from end-to-end this time and stop when I want.
What's a good, easy, simple pattern that has some texture and dimension to it, that I can work up over the weekend?
I'm afraid I'm too lazy to dig thru old posts...I'm sure the answer is probably on here somewhere, but thanks anyway!

Here is a really cute one that I found that was done in Caron Simplt Soft. Is new and is very pretty
Pattern from Ruthie's Easy Crocheted Scarves (Leisure Arts). Lace and Spirals.
Caron Simply Soft Brights.
It (pics of) is the first two done here at the top left of the page---yellow and orange are the colors: can enlarge by clicking on pic.

I started this one about an hour ago and am almoast finished! It is a cut pattern, very easy, and would look good in any type of yarn. I have also modified the 5 1/2 hour throw pattern to make scarves for x-mas, some of them out of homespun, if youare interested P.M. me:hook

I was going to suggest this one, just go up a hook size for the Simply soft. It works up nicely and looks great.

The cool thing about scarves is that ANYTHING goes....
I use scarves to test new stitches, patterns, whatever. I have even used M-A-M afghan pattern panels to make scarves (and they are the coolest) I have a billion scarves because of this.
Find a stitich you like and narrow it down to 15 - 25 stitches and repeat over and over for a scarf.
A scarf does not have to be from an official pattern if you don't want it to be.
It can turn out great as a productive "experiment".
