I finally got the hang of doing a cable pattern (I will *defintely* post a picture of the scarf when I finish it), and already my boyfriend has requested a sweater! :think Obviously, I'd prefer an online/free pattern, but I'm also happy to purchase a book or pamphlet that has clear, precise instructions. I've done mostly baby clothes so far, and though all the pieces have come out like they were supposed to, the idea of an actual adult piece kind of scares me. :eek :lol

I know I won't make it in time for Christmas, but I'd love to finish it by Valentine's Day. He's a true size medium, if that matters. Thanks so much, in advance! :)

Here is a pattern (http://craftyarncouncil.com/projects/jan_crochproj.html) that I came across a few weeks ago. I bookmarked it because I plan to try this pattern for my husband some time after the holidays are over. It's not quite as nice as Etaria's cable stitching, but it looks fairly simple enough to follow, and not too difficult to make (which is why I was interested in it). Hope that helps you.

I made the Fishermans sweater and it turned out great. Unfortunately I do not have a picture of it, but it was a fairly easy pattern to follow and it worked up really nice.

Isn't it great to have a SO/DH who truly appreciates your work?

Thanks for the link and the feedback...I was thinking about doing something with a tighter cable (with less open weave, if that makes sense) but I'm going to look at that pattern a little closer considering how apprehensive I am about the whole project!

It *is* the best, MBCabbie! I don't think he fully appreciates the stash of yarn scattered all over my apartment, but I'm sure it'll all be worth it once he gets his sweater, no? :lol

Undoubtably!

My DH will love his scarf from Crochetgarden (IF I ever get it done)

...and get this... I have been commissioned by him to make a set of those hanging boobies for his friend's car. He loved them. LOL... I just don't know about men sometimes.

Mine is appreciating my stash more now that I am using up some of it for a scrap ripple afghan. The thing is gorgeous, and the stash is getting smaller. We have a small appartment, so every inch of space is important.
