I don't know how long they are running it of even if it is all Michaels, but I went in today to pick up a skien to finish a project and found some of the Moda Dea yarns on sale. 70% off! I got tons of Eden, it was only $2 a skien! I'm so excited :yay :yay :yay . My hubby let me buy tons. It's awesome because I've been wanting to make the eden sweater but couldn't justify $7 a skien and 11 skiens to make it. I got enough to make them in two different colors!! Sorry, I was just so excited and thrilled. Spend pretty much a yearly yarn budget. Hubby just rolled his eyes.

Mine had a bunch of the Moda Dea at 70% off a few months ago. I picked up a few skeins and made scarves with it. I didn't see Eden there though.

I was there tonight to get yarn for a different project and picked some up as an extra gift for my Mom for Christmas. She knits and she would never spend $7 a skein on herself, so it's fun to be able to give her the yarn to enjoy making something with. I didn't know about the sale so I was really excited when I saw it!

I picked up some Escappe today at Michaels for 1.79 a skein! It looks like fun fur so I can make some scarves for my niece and nephew's fiancee as well.

The sale was also at my Michael's. They were also doing 50% off any items with an orange tag. I picked up a leaflet on crocheting socks for $3! :clap

I also had to go check out my local Michaels and our Moda Dea was on a sale too! Woo-hoo! I got 6 skeins of the Wild (very funky colours and soooo soft) for $15! (saved over $35...hubby was very impressed :U) But it was very hard to restrain myself from not buying the whole bins-full, but I figure I can make a few scarves out of it....I asked the checker, and she said the sale probably ends on Saturday....don't know that I'll make it back before then...
Thank you Feywalker for your heads-up!

I went back to my Michaels today (didn't have enough time on Sunday) and they also had the Modadea for 70% off. I picked up the Espree for $1.79 a skein also, one of the few that is machine washable. I don't do hand wash. But maybe I should ask. Has anyone machine washed something that said hand wash only and how did it come out?
And the sign said that it would be on sale from Nov something (can't remember the exact date) to January 31. 2006. So I guess I'll checking it out again. (like I need more yarn, LOL). But if it's that great price, you gotta get some.

I'll have to say, it's been really painful reading about all these sales lately, as I have NO yarn budget right now. :( But, I am anticipating a bit of extra pocket money next month to play with :yay, will just have to keep a tight rein on myself so I don't blow far more than what I've determined I can spend for yarn. :blush

I have often washed "hand wash only" items in the washer, usually in cold water on the delicate cycle, going very easy on laundry soap (perhaps using a delicate fabrics product rather than the usual detergent), then lay flat to dry. There are some hand washables that are obviously far too delicate to try this with, but they are usually pretty easy to identify. I haven't run across too many of these in my possession, at any rate. Thin chenilles, especially if worked in any kind of open stitching would be one of them, I've found chenille to be very delicate, at least in my experience - lost a gorgeous throw (a purchased one, not handmade) that way. If the item isn't too large, it would be even better to place it in a lingerie bag before putting it in the washer, to protect it from the agitation and from getting tangled with other things. But it certainly can be done. It's a rare item I've ever handwashed, even bras and things of that nature! I'm far too lazy for that, lol! :devil

Another reason for me to hate my local Michaels...
I went in there tonite and NOTHING was on clearance in the yarn area. There was some fun fur on sale and a few other things but these were all in the flyer.
Was the stuff you guys saw at such a great deal in the yarn section or somewhere else???
Doggone it! :angry

Mine does that too with any yarn purchase or anything knitting or crochet-related....so I do it back to him when he talks about golf clubs and anything golf-related....:laughroll
Congrats on the yarn acquisition too....wonderful!

Mine had the 70% off sometime in October. I guess it's just when they are clearing their stock. I usually don't shop at Michael's much for yarn anyway, not enough of a selection.

I'm really surprised no-one mentions Walmart for yarn. It's much cheaper than Michaels, well, in my area it is. The selection is very limited though.

Wal-Mart is mentioned a lot on the board, just their selection can be slim. Several people use their Mainstays brand and now they have their own novelty brand out,

I was at Michael's yesterday, and they had tons of Moda Dea. Different types, different colors, all around the $3 range. I saw they orginally had some $1.79 stuff but that was gone. I didn't buy anything though because it was all hand wash only, and I'm not a handwashing gal.
The Moda Dea clearance was not in the yarn section. It was in a large bin right outside the section where they have t-shirts and embellishments.
They claimed fun fur was also on clearance at the store I was in, but it was still close to $4. I didn't buy that either since it's cheaper at Wal-Mart now.
I did buy a couple of Red Heart skiens that weren't on sale, but I'm waiting until after Christmas to make any major yarn purchases. I know I've got some pattern books under the Christmas tree, and I suggested that yarn makes a great gift too. I need to see what I have and will need before buying anything new.

I got a bunch of yarn on sale too, enough Ticker Tape to make a tank top (I can't wait to start it!) and a few others - one to trim a hat (it was the one that looks like it has confetti in it? in Geranium) and two of one of the fuzzy ones. Not sure what I'll do with it yet, guess we'll see but I couldn't pass it up for those prices! The sale yarn at my Michaels was in the yarn section.

I went to Michaels yesterday and they had a lot of Moda Dea on sale for 50% off, I got 3 skeins of Aerie for $4.49 each, it is really soft! Most of it was gone, so actually found this one in a different area that wasn't marked. I would like to get some more, maybe to make a nice pullover poncho. I think they had the 70% off sale last month, but didn't see anything that struck me as 'had to have' at the time. I'm a soft yarn gal, lol! I was a little upset that they didn't have the kids knitting machine in stock (it's advertised in this weeks paper) and I can't find it anywhere! I want to send my husband up there to get a rain check or to raise some ruckus, lol! Everyone says that they will not get new stock until after Christmas.
I wonder why they are getting rid of all the Moda Dea?? :think New yarn line coming out?

I found it! I went to Michaels last night to get something for my oil painting (a frame kit to hold the painting in the frame) and had I not been in the frame section I would never have seen it! They had this big bin full of this stuff! It was right in front of framing (on the other side of the store as the yarn) I was bummed though as I only had like 3 dollars on me... It ended up that I needed to bring my oil painting in in order to get the right brackets so I'll be back there tonite. Maybe I'll use my Debit card and get a couple of skeins. I really really want to try that ticker tape!!!

Hi Goldi,
It's LI Roe. Thanks for the info on how you hand wash. I am like you, hate to hand wash unless absolutely, positively, definitely, necessary. I do have those little mesh bags and delicate laundry soap. Maybe I'll get a sale skein to try and see how it goes. Appreciate your response.
Once I accidently washed something that was a gift, but not handmade, that was dry clean only (another thing I try to avoid but since I am retired and never needed to wear clothing that needed to be dry cleaned anyway, I got spoiled) and it came out pretty good, just needed to iron it because I lost the crinkly look but it looked great not crinkly. And I was one of those rare people who actually didn't mind ironing. Used to put on video tapes of craft shows and iron away.
Take care.

I bought enough Ticker Tape yesterday to make 3 tank tops. (Usually 8.99/sk marked down to 2.39!!!) This is soooo soft compared to the LB Incredible. I'm fooling around with different stitch patterns now.

After reading all your posts and then receiving a gift card to Michaels from my husband for Christmas you can bet you know what I went to buy. Thank goodness they had quite the selection there and I used all of my gift card to buy wonderful yarn at a bargain price. Thanks all for the heads up.:cheer
