Love Knot *in* Double Crochet?

For the life of me I can not figure out when during the lk that I insert my hook into my dc stitch to make a lk in a dc... Any help?

You have to insert the hook in the ridge at the back of the loop (not the front or back loops, but the yarn behind). Does that make sense?: think
