Ok, so I'm new to designing my own stuff. I just made a skirt which is my own design. Its a size 8 which I think would be a small. Is there a simple way to make the instructions for other sizes?

Try this website:
http://www.thedietdiary.com/knittingfiend/EZsweater/catalogSizeChart.html#US_Standard_Sizes:sort_of_a_ rant.
Near the middle is an estimator that i find helpful.
Try this too: http://www.yarnstandards.com/womansize.html
Or this: http://www.fibergypsy.com/common/misses.shtml
Pattern sizes are not constant, and can vary between sweaters and jackets. But this should give you some guidelines.
Good luck!

Thank you for posting those. Figuring out the measurements for multiple sizes has befuddled me for some time and kept me from coming up with multiple sizes in the things I create. These charts should help alot especially in my current project.

It's probably accurate. Actual clothing sizes and pattern sizes aren't the same. If you buy sewing patterns, you will see the size you'd use will be approximately two sizes larger than what you'd wear in ready made clothing. It's similar with many crochet patterns too, especially the ones that aren't small, medium, large, x-large.
This article explains it more than I could:
As I'm sure you're aware, sizing in the ready-to-wear industry is not consistent and most of us fit into a wide range of sizes, depending on the designer or manufacturer. Designers frequently use what's called vanity sizing, which adds inches to each size. What might have been a size 16 a few years ago, for example, is labeled a size 10 or 12 today.

Makes sense. Ever tried to wear vintage? Those clothes were tiny back in the day. LOL!
