I bought this old afghan at an antique mall where I live. I'd like to make one like it. It looks easy but not sure exactly how to do it? Anyone have an idea>>
Please look at my blog for more things I found while antiquing.

I believe this pattern is called Rainbow of Teir Drops. I know that is a very old pattern. Sent you an e-mail. Leesa

It's worked in scs and dcs from right to left without turning, cutting yarn at end of each row. The scs are made in the back loops and the dcs are worked into the unworked front loop two rows below. It's hard to tell from the little picture, but it looks like there are 5 scs between dcs. You'll need probably two extra scs at each end of the row. The dcs are staggered to make that design. An example would be:
ssfsssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfssssssss
sssfsssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfsssssss
ssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfssssss
sssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfsssss
ssssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfssss
sssssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfsss
ssfsssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfss
sssfsssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfsssssss
ssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfssssss
sssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfsssss
ssssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfsssssfssss
You'd have to start with three rows of scs so you have some place to put the dcs of the first row.
Edited to change fpdc to just dc in front loop of sc two rows below. So all those f's in the pic should be d's for dc.

Cool. I was thinking it was something easy. My guess would have been single crochet all the way across. Just replace the f with a single from the next row.
Anyway I found the booklet if someone wants it. Don't know how many they have. Seventh book down. The one called "Easy Crochet Afghan and Pillows".
