Does anyone know where I can get ahold of afghan patterns utilizing two or three strands of ww yarn? I tried Googling, but I guess I'm not wording it right (I'm internet challenged). Do any of you ladies/gents know of any pattern books like this (if they even exist), and where I can buy them?

I make them just by doubling up on a regular pattern, and have had pretty good results. I'm really interested to try patterns written specifically for this. Thanks for any help!

The book Easy Weekend Afghans has patterns done with more than one strand. I have another one that I think is called Q-hook Afghans that also uses multiple strands. The only online pattern I can think of with three strands is the 5 1/2 hour throw (http://cache.lionbrand.com/patterns/cjif-5.html) from LionBrand.

I was going to suggest doing a search for "Q hook afghans" - I know I've seen several booklets using more than one strand and a Q hook.

I love the 5 1/2 hour one.
You could also just take your Q hook, a favorite pattern or stitch and have at it. Just don't use anything with much detail. :)

Thanks for all the suggestions! :)

That's how I do it now, I'm kinda hoping someone else's designs will be more exciting. Funny; my favorite stitch is a shell that puffs up huuuuge doubled or tripled. It's actually kind of cute and different looking. Thanks for the links!

I just realized I may not have been clear. In case you didn't look, the links I posted are all two strand patterns. Sorry about that. :)

I have a simple one that I've made a couple of afghans from.

Q hook
2 strands of yarn-same or different colors

Afghan is made lengthwise.

Ch however long you want your afghan to be then hdc in the 3rd ch from hook and each ch across. Ch 2 turn.

Next and following rows: There is a horizontal loop on the hdc when you turn, you will be working into these, not the top loops, from now on. Hdc in horizontal loop of each hdc across. Ch 2, turn. The top loops made the ribbed pattern, you'll see after just a few rows.

This makes a cabled-look afghan and is very nice.

I love to do the cross stitch in multi-strand. I do DC for 3 rows and then do a row of cross stitch and then back to DC. This is a lapafghan I did that way. I've also have done a whole afghan in cross stitch multi strand and it came out cute.

Another one that is great is the V stitch without the chains in the middle. So simple to do and it looks great. That's what this one is made out of.

I forgot to say....I prefer to use the P hook and 2 or 3 strands of yarn. I found I like it better than the Q hook. I've just found that the Q hook afghans stretch out a little. http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f69/darkravenswife/closeup.jpgHere's a close up on that V stitch without the chains inbetween.

There's also a great book by Leisure Arts called Afghans on the Double (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0942237900/qid=1137851296/sr=2-1/ref=pd_bbs_b_2_1/103-7422101-7250249?s=books&v=glance&n=283155). I've made tons of things out of that book.
