This may be old news to everyone else, but Herrschner's weekly yarn sale (http://www.herrschners.com/yarnsale.aspx?id=2&tab=3) seems really astonishing to me. Most of the great stuff is already sold out today (Debbie Bliss Cotton Angora for $3.50, Grandma's Best crochet thread in 400-yard cylinders for $1) but there's still stuff like Reynolds Devotion (50-50 nylon and angora) $4.
Last week, I ordered eight skeins of Skacel Ocean in a pretty variegated pink for $2/skein, and a couple of books about which I know nothing (yet another book of baby blankets and a quick-afghans-with-a-Q-hook book) because they were $2 each. This is clearly the only way I'm ever going to be able to make patterns with the yarn-store-quality yarn that they call for.
I've won eBay auctions from Herrschner's before but it never occurred to me to visit their site. The sale items change on Wednesday, and apparently the best stuff sells out fast, but the best stuff seems really really good.
Just noticed that Jo Sharp 100% cotton is on sale but I'm going to have to let it pass for now.
